On 28th April, 1915 the 24th London battalion of 142 Brigade, 47th Division left their billets on the Rue de l’Epinette at le Touret and moved into trenches at Rue du Bois where they remained until relieved on 3rd May. William Smith died from wounds on 5th May and is buried in a nearby cemetery so it is likely that he was wounded during the period spent in the front line. |
